Sunset and nightfall in NYC

This moment, this sunset is all that matters. ~ Hints Of Life

Sunset from Empire State Building

It was the summer of 2015, my parents were visiting from India and we decided to do what most tourists do – visit the Empire State Building to take-in the magnificent sunset views and the unending New York City’s skyline after nightfall. It is always a special feeling to see the natural light take over the daylight before the city lights flood the skyline of the city that is home to 8.5 million people. I remember how we had to squeeze ourselves through the crowd to be able to see the most beautiful light and dark sky from atop one of the tallest buildings in New York City. Thinking back nowhere in the wake of the pandemic those days of normalcy seem so afar. The nonchalant, carefree days of watching the breathtakingly gorgeous orange sunsets with family and friends.

The Hudson River radiant under the setting sun

Taking a 360 degree view from the observation deck of the the Empire State Building, Hudson River in the West was a radiant orange. It was like a dream unfolding in front of you and you don’t want to wake from your slumber. The setting sun submerging behind the horizon, slowly, vanishing from the human eye whilst the rapidly emerging night clouds creating a dark blanket above us. I remember even today, it was a clear night sky as I captured the unending New York City’s skyline.

The glitz and glam of the city that never sleeps could be seen from the 102nd floor observatory deck. I gazed into the horizon, seezing the moment, feeling the cool breeze of the late summer evening.

The night view from Empire State Building

As I reminisce one of the many best days I spent with my parents, in a way I’m vicariously living those happy moments through my memory. I did rather indulge, if only for a little while, in the past until the future appears more lively and certain. In times of the Pandemic the best we can do is hold on to the happy memories and believe in the process of the universe. Remember, with bad days good days are not afar.

I affirm that soon enough I will once again stand on 102nd floor of this beautiful building, popular for its Art Deco architecture, height and observatory decks. I will once again enjoy the many gorgeous orange sunsets with my family and friends.

Wishing everyone Happy Holidays. Hope you are keeping safe and healthy.
